The Greene County Debris Committee agreed during its Thursday meeting to begin cleanup of a Chuckey Highway property next week.

Although the property is listed under Robin Crumm's name, neither Crumm nor the bank will claim the property which includes a burned house.

Building and zoning director Leon Bird called the property a "safety hazard."

The committee decided to continue with the cleanup and attach the cleanup bill to the property's tax bill. If the taxes including the bill for the cleanup are not paid within two years, the county will have the option of selling the property to cover what is owed.

In other business, Bird showed the committee pictures of Frances Wynn's Jackson Lane property in northern Greene County. A burned trailer and other debris were cleaned from the property and Bird cited the cleaning bill as $2,039.

Also, Greene County citizen Bobby Knight attended Thursday's meeting to show pictures as evidence for cleanup completed at a Welcome Grove property.

A complaint had been filed requesting cleanup of the property, and Bird said Knight was cooperative with the committee in the cleanup effort. A motion was passed to declare the property's condition in compliance with the county's ordinance.

The next month's meeting will be held Aug. 10 at 2 p.m.
