Miss Fairest Of The Fair Contestants Are Introduced

Twelve young women are entered to compete for the title of the Greene County Fairest of the Fair at 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 10, on the main stage at the Greene County Fairgrounds.

Miss Fairest of the Fair 2008 Jessica Lee Britton will crown the winner.

Ron Metcalfe of WGRV-WIKQ and Keema Greenlee, a former Miss Fairest of the Fair, will emcee.

Each contestant for the Miss Fairest of the Fair must be a Greene County resident; sponsored by a business, civic or community club, school or parents; no younger than 16 at the local pageant date or older than 21 as of Dec. 31, 2009; single and never married with no children.

The winner will receive a crown, roses and a $500 check for wardrobe for the state pageant and $500 scholarship.

She will represent the Greene County Fair in the state pageant in Nashville in January 2010 with all expenses paid.

All contestants must attend each practice session scheduled at 6:30 p.m. Monday Tuesday and Thursday, Aug. 3, 4 and 6, at the main stage at the fairgrounds.

The following are the 11 who entered prior to the July 25 deadline.

* Julia Bird, 17, is the daughter of Patty Bird. She is sponsored by her mother.

* Hannah DiMeglio, 19, is the daughter of Ellen Adamo. She is sponsored by her mother.

* Monica Gibbs, 18, is the daughter of Jake and Dee Dee Gibbs. She is sponsored by her parents.

* Courtney Gosnell, 17, is the daughter of Joel Gosnell and Karen Hensley. She is sponsored by Corner Pawn Shop.

* China Marie Kirby, 16, is the daughter of Kimberly Hale. She is sponsored by her mother.

* Katie Sherwood, 16, is the daughter of Ronald and Susan Sherwood. She is sponsored by her parents.

* Brooke LaShay Shipley, 18, is the daughter of Kaye, Paul and Paula Shipley. She is sponsored by Afton Construction Co.

* Deszarae Showman, 19, is the daughter of Jill and Audie Banner. She is sponsored by Freta Knight.

* Camellia Nichole Tweed, 17, is the daughter of Claude and Mary Tweed. She is sponsored by Myers Pumpkins Patch and Corn Maze.

* Ally Walker, 18, is the daughter of Dennis and Vickie Walker. She is sponsored by her parents.

* Casey Leigh Westmorland, 19, is the daughter of Lori and Ricky Fannon, and Terry and Penny Westmorland. She is sponsored by Andrew Johnson Bank.

* Chaston Wilkerson, 16, is the daughter of Craig and Reneé Wilkerson. She is sponsored by her parents.
