Brian Cutshall and Theresa Weems.
The Greeneville Sun has named Brian Cutshall
director of its online operations and Theresa Weems its newspaper/online account executive,
according to Steven Harbison, general manager of the Sun.
Cutshall and
Weems formerly worked in online positions with the Sun's parent company, Jones Media Inc., (JMI),
where Cutshall held leadership roles with GreenevilleSun.com, GreenevilleMarketplace.com, and
related services of two other JMI newspapers, The Newport Plain Talk and The Rogersville
Review.
Weems was an Internet advertising consultant, primarily serving
GreenevilleMarketplace.com, an Internet directory of more than 2,200 businesses in
Greeneville-Greene County.
"Brian and Theresa will work closely with our
entire staff to grow the Sun's online business, promote our print business, and more fully integrate
combination print-online sales and services," Harbison said.
Cutshall
will implement and market programs of The Greeneville Sun, with emphasis on online news, and
advertiser and audience development, while Weems will sell and service Sun advertising accounts with
emphasis on GreenevilleMarketplace.com and other online
products.
Cutshall will report directly to Harbison, and Weems to Artie
Wehenkel, director of advertising of The Greeneville Sun.
"I'm very
excited about Theresa's and Brian's new roles with our advertising team at The Greeneville Sun,"
Wehenkel said, "They have a lot of experience in media and sales, and they're excellent additions to
our advertising team."
GREENEVILLESUN.COM
In August, approximately 65,000 individuals viewed approximately 1.3 million
pages on GreenevilleSun.com, Harbison said.
"Those numbers show a very
strong newspaper web site," he said. "We want to build online and print services to fill the needs
of our readers and advertisers."
In 2009, the Tennessee Associated Press
Managing Editors Association (APME) awarded five prizes to GreenevilleSun.com, including second
place for best newspaper Web site among newspapers in its size
category.
The Web site won first place for best news video and first,
second and third prizes for best multimedia news coverage with both print and online
elements.
In 2008, GreenevilleSun.com launched
GreenevilleMarketplace.com, a Web site that provides free listings (or "mini-Web sites") for all
businesses in Greeneville-Greene County. Information includes addresses, telephone numbers, maps,
photos, hours of operation and payment methods accepted.
Enhanced
