Greene County will be well represented at the TSSAA state cross country meet, which will be held Saturday at the Percy Warner Park Steeplechase Course in Nashville.

Four local teams will be among those represented at state. Both of Greeneville's teams, girls and boys, qualified for the event, along with the Chuckey-Doak boys, who are head to state for the first time in history, and the West Greene girls, who made the field for the third straight year.

The local teams qualified for state during last week's Region 1 meet at Daniel Boone High School.

Greeneville's Ashley Ellenburg was individual champ at the region and will lead the GHS girls, along with Paige Bible, who finished third in the region.

The Lady Devils finished second in the region to advance, while West Greene's girls were third and also got a spot. The Buffs were led in the region by freshmen Sierra McIntosh and Macy Parham.

South Greene's Brittney Brown finished fourth in the region and earned a berth as an individual in the state event.

Greeneville's boys finished second in the region and were led by Dylan Jones who finished runnerup individually at Boone.

Chuckey-Doak earned its first trip by placing third as a team, and they were led by freshman Simeon Roberts, who was sixth in the region, along with junior Josiah Roberts who placed eighth and sophomore Lawson Burrow who was ninth.
