Baileyton, Panthers, C-DMS Win In Hoops

Baileyton, West Pines and Chuckey-Doak Middle won basketball doubleheaders in Monday night action.

Baileyton downed Glenwood, West Pines beat Ottway and Chuckey-Doak swept Providence. In other action, DeBusk and Mosheim split a pair of close games.

BRAVES, INDIANS DIVIDE THRILLERS

The DeBusk Braves welcomed Mosheim Monday night, and the two teams staged a pair of thrillers that resulted in a split of the twin-bill.

The DeBusk girls came away with a 36-35 victory as Sarah Luttrell gunned in 13 points and Lorena Leon added 12. Mosheim was led by Megan Lamb with 12 and Kristin Johnson with eight.

Mosheim led 14-7 at the first rest stop and 22-19 at intermission before DeBusk rallied to get the lead in the third period.

The boys' game was equally as exciting, going to overtime before Mosheim escaped with a 39-37 victory. Tyler Early had 14 points and Tanner Early chipped in with 10 for Mosheim. Jonathan Zavaleta had 15 points and Manny Alcantara 10 for DeBusk.

Mosheim staged a terrific fourth quarter rally to come from behind and tie the game at 30-30 at the close of regulation. The Braves were up 21-11 at halftime and 28-13 after three before the Indians outscored their hosts 17-2 in the final period to pull into a tie.

DRAGONS DOWN CHIEFS

The Baileyton Dragons took both ends of a doubleheader from visiting Glenwood Monday night.

Baileyton's girls won 44-7 as Mendy McNeese scored 19 points and Hannah Rhodes had eight. Maelyn Jaynes with three led Glenwood.

The Baileyton boys turned on the steam in the second half and pulled away to a 55-28 win over the Chiefs. The Dragons led 36-26 after three but held the Chiefs to a field goal in the final period.

Zane Britton scored 12 and Troy Hall 10 for Baileyton. Trey Brown pumped in 16 points for Glenwood.

PANTHERS TOP OTTWAY

West Pines went to Ottway Monday and came away with a sweep of a doubleheader.

The Lady Panthers won the opener 25-17 as Lauren Baxter dumped in nine points. Makenzie Reynolds scored six for Ottway.

West Pines took a 23-2 halftime lead and coasted in the second half.

The West Pines boys pulled away from a 2-2 first quarter tie to a 15-5 halftime advantage, then put away the Eagles in the third in moving to a 36-16 victory.

Zack Potter had 13 to led the winners. Tyler Black's five points led Ottway.

Girls

Ottway (17): Makenzie Reynolds 6, Foster 5, Nelson 4, Weems 2.

KNIGHTS TOP PROVIDENCE

Chuckey-Doak won a doubleheader over Providence Academy in Monday night action.

The Lady Knights took a 31-21 wiin, leading 19-3 at halftime. Tori Hopson and Cori Haynes each scored 10 points for Chuckey-Doak. Roller scored six for Providence.

In the boys game, Chuckey-Doak pulled away to a 46-25 win. Trailing 6-3 after one, the Knights recovered in the second to take a 17-12 halftime lead, then outscored their visitors 17-2 in the third period.

Garren Taylor had 12 points and Josh Lamb 10 for the Knights. Graybeal had 10 for Providence.

In B-team games, the Knights won in girls by a 34-12 margin as Andi Lamb scored 11 points. The C-DMS boys won 39-17 behind 14 points from Daniel Beddingfield and 12 from Seth Riddle.
