5 Percent Pay Raise

The Greeneville Housing Authority's board of directors on Tuesday approved the Authority's budget for 2010.
The budget shows projected income totaling $1,770,188 and projected expenses totaling $1,655,440 resulting in a net projected income of $114,748.
The budget includes a 5 percent salary increase for GHA's 11 employees.
That percentage increase is the maximum allowed by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), according to Rebecca Moyer Adams, GHA executive director.
RENTS AND SUBSIDIES
The largest category of income is dwelling rent at $756,000.
The only other large category of income is the operating subsidy from HUD, which Adams projected at $710,681, based on the actual amount received in 2009.
The largest expense category is $324,850 for electricity, followed by $301,751 for salaries.
PERSONNEL POLICY REVISION
In other action, the Housing Authority's board approved a revision to its personnel policy.
The previous policy stated, "Annual leave cannot be accumulated over one year."
The approved revision, presented by Adams, stated, "Annual leave can be accumulated to a total of 400 hours. Any annual leave earned over 400 hours will be transferred to sick leave."
The revision is based on the federal policy, Adams said.
19 ON WAITING LIST
The board also reviewed GHA's waiting list for October, which shows that 19 applicants are waiting to occupy GHA units.
Among those applicants are six persons who are disabled and four who are elderly, Adams said.
The list includes five applicants for three-bedroom units, five for two-bedroom units, six for one-bedroom units and three for efficiency units.
The board also reviewed the list of work orders completed in October.
Among the 164 work orders that were issued and completed, 14 were considered emergencies, Adams said.
Adams also showed photos of recent work involving roof replacements and sewer line replacements.
