North Greene put South Greene into a position the Lady Rebels aren't used to on Saturday night; having to come from behind in the second half on their home court to get by the Lady Huskies.

It took a big effort in the fourth quarter for the Lady Rebels to erase a long-running North Greene lead and pull away to a 65-56 cross-county win in front of a packed house.

South Greene's boys jumped out front of the Huskies early in their game and stayed away for a 46-29 win.

North Greene returns to conference action tonight with a road trip to Cloudland.

The Lady Rebels host Tennessee High tonight in a solo game, and the Rebels travel to Cloudland on Tuesday.

South Greene has another cross-county showdown on Saturday at Chuckey-Doak, a game originally scheduled for Friday.

LADY REBS RALLY

South Greene isn't accustomed to having to rally from behind on its home floor against North Greene, but that's exactly what it took on Saturday.

Freshman Laiken Morrow led the Lady Huskies on a second-quarter spurt that put North Greene out front. They stayed in the lead until the fourth when the Lady Rebels got a strong effort from Brandi Crum and enough free throws to claim the win.

The Lady Rebels appeared to be on their way in the first quarter, riding eight points from Ansley Ricker to a 21-14 lead. Dakota White scored nine for North Greene to keep the Lady Huskies from getting too far behind.

Foul troubles plagued South Greene in the second, meaning the Lady Rebels played most of the quarter with only one starter on the floor at any given time. That led to a rash of turnovers when Shyler Miller got four steals for the Lady Huskies, and North Greene took full advantage.

Morrow was the big key, scoring eight to lead the Lady Huskies to a 24-point period and a 38-32 advantage at halftime.

Foul troubles for North Greene in the third opened the door for a Lady Rebel comeback. White was whistled for three fouls in the first three and a half minutes of the second half, severely limiting the Lady Huskies' presence under the basket.

Ricker did the most damage for South Greene though from long range with a pair of 3-pointers. North Greene was still in the lead at the close of the quarter, hoping to nurse a 47-45 to the finish line.

It wasn't meant to be. Ricker scored an old fashion three-point play to put the Lady Rebels up 48-47 with 6:19 to play, and North Greene couldn't recover. Crum was the key for South Greene, scoring seven down the stretch to keep the Lady Rebels out front.

Ricker led the game with 21 points, marked by four 3-pointers. Ashley Tweed had a double-double for the Lady Rebels with 11 points and 10 rebounds. She also had four steals for South Greene (14-5).

White led the Lady Huskies (10-10) with 16 points and nine boards. Morrow scored 14.

REBELS ROLL

County scoring leader Scott Blake poured in 18 points, including four 3-pointers, to lead the Rebels to a 46-29 victory over the Huskies.

But it wasn't necessarily a runaway.

Blake scored eight in the first quarter to pace the Rebs to a 12-7 lead. A defensive second quarter played into the Huskies' hands as they reeled the Rebs in a bit with the score 18-15 in favor of South Greene at the break.

North Greene tied the game at 20 in the third quarter on a 3-pointer by Justin Harmon. Ethan Wykle checked in for the Rebs and scored six to help push South Greene back out front 34-25 by the end of the quarter.

Blake knocked down a couple from long range to seal it for the Rebs in the fourth.

Blake's 18 was a game high. Kenan Wilhoit added 10.

Tra Haney had a strong game for the Rebs (13-4) with five steals and seven rebounds. T.E. Myers led South Greene on the boards with 11.

Garrett Harbin had 10 rebounds for the Huskies (10-7). Andrew Tucker led North Greene in scoring with 10. The Huskies were without leading scorer, Dylan Payne, who has his arm in a cast.
