The Southwest Virginia Angus Association conducted its 46th annual “More For Your Money Sale” in October.
According to a news release, 50 lots of registered Angus cattle went through the sale ring at the Southwest Bull Test Station Sake Facility in Wytheville, Virginia, averaging $1,837 per lot.
The second top selling lot was a consignment of Powell Angus Farm of Limestone. The release said that the cow was a bred heifer sired by MGR Treasure brek to E.W.A. Peyton 642. This heifer sold for $3,100 to Jeff Gower, of Springfield, Missouri.
The top selling cow was consigned by Lucas Farm out of Blacksburg, Virginia. The cow is a four-year-old offspring of K.C.F. Bennett Commonwealth selling with a month-old heifer calf by Bartow Bank Roll. The pair sold for $3,400 to Steve Ballangee, of Peterstown, West Virginia.
According to the release, 26 buyers from Virginia, Tennessee, North Carolina, West Virginia and Missouri attended.
The auctioneer was Smith Reasor of Rural Retreat and the sale coordinator was George T. Johnstone Jr., of Wytheville, Virginia.
