Heading into the final month of the season, bowling teams from Region 1 look to pick up the pace as they progress toward the postseason.
Greeneville and Chuckey-Doak got together at Olympia Lanes on Monday afternoon and began that final stretch.
In boys, Greeneville jumped to an 8-0 lead behind Josh Carpenter’s 180 and David Painter’s 166. In game 2, the Greene Devils took four of the six individual points, but the Black Knights took the team points and cut the deficit to 12-4 behind Seth Hensley’s 186 and Lane Bolton’s 172.
Leading scorers for Greeneville were Carpenter with a 162, Jaden Scruggs a 160 and Alex Litchfield a 156.
Game 3 saw both teams split the individual points, but Greeneville pulled away to a 20-7 win as Painter ended his day with a 210 and Scruggs with a 153. Hensley topped out at 145 for the Knights.
Greeneville runs its conference record to 8-2, while Chuckey-Doak falls to 1-9.
In girls, the Lady Devils took a 6-2 lead behind a 133 from Ziesha Whitfield and a 116 from Kaylee Wallen and Angel Klepper. Zoey French’s 114 and Krystal Edgar’s 112 were the leading scores from Chuckey-Doak.
In the second game, Greeneville took four of the six individual points behind Hannah Gass and Alexia Reyes, who both rolled a 128, while Wallen was close behind with a 127. Brittan Tolliver, however, rolled a 138 for the Lady Knights, who took the two team points and cut the Devils’ lead to 10-6.
In game 3, Angel Klepper rolled a 152, while Reyes came in with a 136 to help seal a 21-6 victory. Tolliver had a 114 and Bailey Clark a 109 for the Lady Knights.
Greeneville runs its conference record to 7-3, while Chuckey-Doak goes to 1-9.
