The crucifixion of Jesus that is remembered and reverenced by Christians on Good Friday received tangible representation Friday afternoon on the grounds of Greenwood United Methodist Church through actors portraying Jesus and two of the women present at his crucifixion on Calvary. Good Friday is a prelude to Easter, which celebrates, for Christian believers, the Resurrection of Jesus after his death and burial. Greenwood has presented its live representation of Good Friday’s events for about 15 years now, a church representative said. Weather conditions, such as Friday’s quite cool temperatures, sometimes have impacted the ability of all volunteer actors to participate for all three hours of the event. The presentation was active from noon until 3 p.m., and was visible from nearby Highway 11E.
