A man found passed out Tuesday night at a gas pump was charged by sheriff’s deputies with possession of a Schedule III drug and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Paul A. Sayler, 27, of 490 Flatwoods Road, had a first scheduled appearance Wednesday in General Sessions Court.

Deputies responded about 10:50 p.m. Tuesday to Jimmy’s Market at 10025 Lonesome Pine Trail after being called about a man passed out behind the wheel of a car at the gas pumps, Deputy John Pierce said in a report.

The car was running and the gas door hinge was open. Deputies saw a glass methamphetamine pipe with a rubber hose on the passenger seat next to Sayler, the report said.

A container with three pieces of an orange pill identified by Sayler as Suboxone was found, the report said.

Also found in the car were one blue pill, two glass pipes, a butane lighter and a small pink plastic bag.

Bond for Sayler was set at $2,000.
