A Midway Circle man suffered an accidental gunshot wound abut 10 p.m. Thursday when the weapon went off while he was cleaning it, sheriff’s Deputy Brandon Ricker said in a report.
Deputies went to the emergency department at Takoma Regional Hospital and spoke with 32-year-old Josh Hicks, of 315 Midway Circle.
“He said while he was cleaning his gun at his residence (the gun) went off, striking his right index finger,” the report said.
The bullet also grazed a leg but didn’t cause additional injury.
Hicks was cleaning a Thompson .45 caliber pistol, the report said.
Hicks’ condition was not immediately available this morning.
