Chris Schmutzler, 59, of Mosheim, passed away at his home Wednesday after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
Mr. Schmutzler is survived by his wife: Michelle Greene Schmutzler; two sons: Khorey Schmutzler and Valerie Alvizua, of Greeneville, and Chase Schmutzler and Jordan Tolley, of Newnan, Georgia; two stepsons: Aaron and Angela Monroe, and Evan and Sarah Monroe; a sister: Susan and Neil Kirshner, of Lebanon; three grandchildren: Kirsten Johnson, Mckayla Johnson and Micah Monroe; and 11 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Adolph and Loretta Jean Schmutzler.
The family will receive friends Friday from 1-3 and 5-7 p.m. at Jeffers Funeral & Cremation Service downtown. The funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. in Jeffers Downtown Chapel with the Rev. Jim Greene officiating.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Saturday to go in procession to the graveside service at 10:30 a.m. at GreeneLawn Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Khorey Schmutzler, Chase Schmutzler, Aaron Monroe, Evan Monroe, Austin Pinkston, Jacob Penton, Thomas Laughlin and Randy Masters.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the funeral home to help defray expenses.
