Keith McNeely, 56, went home to with be with Lord Saturday.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years: Bobbie Grubbs McNeely; his three children and spouse: Kayla Sylvester (Staff Sgt. Joshua Sylvester), Shelby McNeely and Douglas McNeely; and his granddaughter: Laynie Sylvester, his “Baby Bird.”
He was born Aug. 31, 1962, in Norwich, Connecticut, and lived in the Chuckey area since 1994.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walt and Carolyn McNeely; and an infant son.
He was a member of Clear Springs Ruritan.
He had a great love for children and would spend much of his free time entertaining children in his neighborhood by taking them on trips and swimming. His baby bird, Laynie, was the absolute light of his life.
Keith was one of five children, with his brothers, Fred, Walt and Brian, and one sister, Carol McNeely.
Keith was a man of many trades, including building homes, general construction, truck driving and more.
His hobbies included but were not limited to volunteer work with Volunteer East and anything to do with his baby bird. He was involved in the community with many. He served others always. If anyone needed him, he was there, even up until his last moments.
The family will receive friends Friday from 4-7 p.m. at Jeffers Funeral & Cremation Service, Afton chapel. The celebration of life service will follow at 7 p.m. in Jeffers Afton Chapel. Pastor David Dugger will officiate.
