Louis “Jay” Yovanovich, 89, of Afton, passed away Tuesday at his home.

He attended Greeneville Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

He was a veteran of the Korean conflict and a member of American Legion post No. 64.

He was a carpenter and a boat builder.

He was a member of the Davy Crockett Region of the Antique Automobile Car Club of America.

He is survived by a wife of 64 years: June Anita Yovanovich; a son and daughter-in-law: Jay Daniel and Julie Yovanovich, of Raleigh, North Carolina; two daughters: Linda Yovanovich, and Ellie Anderson and her husband, Robert; four grandsons: Jay Yovanovich and his wife, Jennifer, and family, Jeff Yovanovich and his wife, Jayne, and family, and Matt and Brad Yovanovich; and two granddaughters: Kara and Lisa Yovanovich.

The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. Saturday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home. The memorial service will follow at 7 p.m. at Kiser-Rose Hill Chapel with the Rev. Jamie Lively officiating.

The Greene County Honor Guard and the Tennessee Army National Guard Honor Team will conduct military honors.

The family expressed a special thanks to Rebecca Black at Amedysis for her loving care and concern for Jay and family, to Julia Payne for her kindness, care and support, to Durham-Hensley Health & Rehabilitation Center and the nurses and staff, and to Caris Hospice and staff.
