Silas Andrew Tarlton, 74, of Chuckey, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning at Johnson City Medical Center while surrounded by his loving family.
He retired from Plus Mark.
Silas loved camping, trout fishing, horseback riding and dune buggy riding.
Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years: Brenda Tarlton; two sons and daughters-in-law: Johnny and Kathy Tarlton, of Chuckey, and Eddie Tarlton and Roni Gillespie, of Chuckey; one daughter and son-in-law: Shiela and Robert Holt, of Chuckey; two grandchildren: Johnny Lee Tarlton and Justin Tarlton, both of Chuckey; two great-grandchildren: Hunter and Harleigh Tarlton, of Chuckey; three sisters: Mary Jane and Harold Fender, Callie Laws, and Gertha and George Laws; one brother: Henry Tarlton; his father-in-law: James Waites, of Chuckey; a sister-in-law: Frances Thompson; and a brother-in-law and his wife: Danny and Jackie Waites, all of Chuckey; several special nieces and nephews; and special friend: Carl Cloyd.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Bruce and Gracie Tarlton; and two brothers-in-law: Jerry Waites and Jay Laws.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 8 p.m. in Doughty-Stevens Chapel. The Rev. Mike Lamb and the Rev. Wayne Rice will officiate.
Family and friends are asked to gather at Doughty-Stevens at 1 p.m. Friday to go in procession to Liberty Cemetery for the 2 p.m. committal service.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Lee Tarlton, Justin Tarlton, Dwayne Tipton, Jeffrey Tipton, Mike Coyne, Gary Tipton, Don Graham and Danny Waites.
Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Fender and George Laws.
