Virgie Helen Swatzell Reaves, 79, of Greeneville, died Thursday at her home.

She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church and attended as long as her health permitted.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Survivors include a daughter: Diane and James Freeman; three sons: Robert Reaves and Charlene Brockwell, Sam and Susan Reaves, and Jeff and Lisa Reaves; grandchildren: Jonathan Metcalf, Elizabeth Thornburg, Jennifer Howard, Michelle Reaves, Ryan Reaves, Seth Reaves, Kevin Reaves, Cody Reaves, Donovan McDonald, Julie Ann Perkins, Alex Freeman and Kayla Hill; 19 great grandchildren; a sister: Ruby Jennings; a brother: Hal “Bud” Swatzell; several nieces and nephews; and special friends: Nora Walker and Geneva Walton.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Vaughn T. Reaves; parents: Carson and Zella Mae Swatzell; daughter: Karen Swatzell; two sisters: Mary Bottomley and Rosa Lee Swatzell; and two brothers: Charles and Bill Swatzell.

The family will receive friends from 1-3 and 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Doughty-Stevens Chapel. The Rev. Danny Ellis and the Rev. Hubert Metcalf will officiate. Interment will follow in New Bethel Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include Kevin Reaves, Seth Reaves, Cody Reaves, Kyle “Butch” Swatzell, Terry Anderson and Garrett Anderson.

Honorary pallbearers will be her nephews.
