WALLACE HENSLEY

 

Wallace Hensley, 83, of Greeneville, passed away Thursday at Durham-Hensley Health and Rehabilitation Center in Chuckey.

He was a former employee of Bewley Chevrolet and Lawson Chevrolet and retired from Bachman-Bernard.

He was a member of Towering Oaks Baptist Church.

He was a 50-year member of Greeneville Lodge No. 3, F&AM, a lifetime member of Greeneville Optimist Club, a member of Greeneville Bass Club and a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years: Rena Faye Hensley; a very special uncle and his wife: Carl and Barbara Belcher; a very special sister-in-law: Jo Murray, who loved him dearly; a brother-in-law: Dewey Seay; a nephew: Mike Seay and his wife, Denise; and several cousins.

He was a son the of the late David and Edith Belcher Hensley.

He was preceded in death by a sister: Mary Frances Thomas; and a brother-in-law: Joe Thomas.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 8 p.m. in Kiser-Rose Hill Chapel with Dr. James K. Pierce III and the Rev. Dennis Shumate officiating.

The graveside service will be Monday at 2 p.m. at River Hill Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to meet at 1 p.m. Monday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home to go in procession to the cemetery for the 2 p.m. committal service.

Pallbearers will be Myron Bernard, Jerald Clements, Ronnie Metcalfe, Dick Fawbush, Dr. John Boys, Melvin Jones and Rick Russell.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. James Rodgers, Dr. Joe Austin, Dr. Tyler Bailey, nurse Vickie Trentham, Dr. Patel and staff, Cole Wells Sunday School Class at Towering Oaks Baptist Church, Nelson Humphreys, Sandi Walker and employees of Bachman Bernard, staff of Signature HealthCARE of Greeneville, Durham-Hensley Health and Rehab and Smoky Mountain Home Health & Hospice, loving neighbors on Crestwood and Hazel and the “Tiger Town Gang.”

Memorials may be made to Towering Oaks Baptist Church or Greeneville-Greene County Humane Society.
