About the school: Sponsored by the Flag Branch Church of God, Greene County Christian School offers courses in pre-school through 12th grade. Also, a day-care center is open for children ages 6 weeks to pre-school.

Opened in 1995, GCCS in the last school year had four full-time teachers, four part-time teachers and approximately 14 students. The school offers an individualized approach to learning by using the Accelerated Christian Education program.

ACE offers a Christian perspective on traditional classroom subjects and allows students to work at their own pace and level.

Students study in private cubicles while in the classroom.

About the school: Greeneville Adventist Academy, which serves students from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade, attempts to “promote the development of body, mind and character so that each student may realize the purpose for which he or she was created.”

Offering an accredited curriculum and training in academics, physical education and spiritual development, the academy’s last school year had eight certified teachers who were assisted by several volunteers, and had approximately 80 students.

The academy is part of the worldwide Seventh-day Adventist School System and is sponsored by the Greeneville Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Many of the students who attend the school are Adventists, but students not associated with the Adventist church are also welcome. The school is a certified “School of Excellence.”

About the school: Towering Oaks Christian School, for pre-school and grades K-8, is an educational ministry of Towering Oaks Baptist Church.

Started in 1982, the school provides quality Bible-based academics and life training for pre-school and school-age children.

The school offers an academic curriculum in which the study of American and world history is prominent, along with Bible study and Bible-based courses.

Reading is seen as the basis of academic success and is heavily emphasized. However, solid mathematics and science curricula also constitute significant parts of the Towering Oaks academic base.

In addition, music, physical education, art, library, computer and Spanish are offered. Students at the school come from more than 60 area churches and denominations.

About the school: Founded in 1780, Washington College Academy is Tennessee’s oldest school, with roots running deep into the fabric and history of East Tennessee.

Although WCA ceased operations as a full-time school in 2001, it is still providing education and outreach to the community.

WCA offers a graduate equivalency diploma program, adult continuing education program and the TOUCH Home School Association (Teach Our Unique Children At Home).

A GED program is sponsored by the academy at no cost to the student.

The ACE Program has enjoyed success and has offered varying classes including: Appalachian guitar, stained glass, basic computing, business, Civil War lecture series, East Tennessee History I and East Tennessee History II.

All of the classes in the ACE Program provide financial assistance if needed.

The TOUCH program meets on campus at no cost to the association.
